Caregiver / Home Care AideAssisting Hands® Irvine & Dana Point is currently hiring Caregivers specifically for weekend shifts with clients throughout South Orange County. If you are looking for consistent weekend caregiving opportunities, or want to supplement your weekday schedule with additional weekend hours, we would like to hear from you. We provide non-medical home care services to male and female clients with a variety of care needs. Assignments may include Companion Care, Personal Care, or a combination of both, depending on the client's individualized Plan of Care.Weekend assignments may be available during:FridaysSaturdaysSundaysDaytime, evening, overnight, and extended shiftsShifts are based on client needs and caregiver availability and generally range from a minimum of 4 hours to a maximum of 12 hours. Our primary service area includes San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Mission Viejo, Ladera Ranch, and surrounding South Orange County communities. Additional weekday shifts may also be available for caregivers interested in working more hours.Shift availability varies according to client needs, and Assisting Hands does not guarantee a specific number of hours.Companion Care responsibilities may include:Providing companionship, conversation, socialization, and emotional supportProviding safety supervision and remaining present with clients who should not be left alonePreparing meals and encouraging proper nutrition and hydrationPerforming light housekeeping, laundry, changing bed linens, and routine household organizationGrocery shopping and completing errandsProviding transportation and accompanying clients to appointments, shopping, social activities, and other outingsAssisting with calendars, appointments, mail, telephone calls, and daily routinesProviding medication reminders and permitted assistance with self-administration of medicationsEncouraging hobbies, reading, games, walks, and appropriate social or physical activitiesProviding reminders, prompting, and cueing for clients with memory or cognitive impairmentFor clients requiring hands-on assistance, responsibilities may include:Bathing and shower assistanceDressing and undressingGrooming, oral care, and personal hygieneToileting and bedside commode assistanceIncontinence careFeeding assistanceHands-on walking and mobility assistanceTransfers between beds, chairs, wheelchairs, toilets, and other surfacesAssistance with approved mobility devices and equipmentRepositioning for comfort and safetyPermitted range-of-motion exercisesHands-on personal care for clients living with dementia or cognitive impairmentCaregivers are expected to perform only those activities authorized by the client's Plan of Care and permitted by applicable law, agency policy, caregiver training, and demonstrated competency.As a Caregiver with Assisting Hands, you will also be responsible for:Maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment within the client's residenceFollowing each client's individualized Plan of CareObserving and promptly reporting changes in a client's physical condition, behavior, or care needsProperly documenting required caregiving activitiesFollowing infection-control procedures and proper handwashing practicesUsing mobility and assistive equipment only as trained and authorizedProviding permitted medication reminders or assistance with self-administration of medications in accordance with agency policyFollowing all Assisting Hands policies, procedures, training requirements, and professional standardsApplicants must:Be 18 years of age or olderHave a High School Diploma or GEDHave reliable personal transportationPossess a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile insuranceProvide documentation establishing identity and authorization to work in the United StatesBe registered with the California Home Care Aide (HCA) RegistryMeet applicable background check and fingerprint clearance requirementsMeet required California caregiver training requirementsMaintain current CPR and First Aid CertificationProvide documentation of a current qualifying negative TB screening/testBe dependable, professional, compassionate, and comfortable working independently in clients' homesWe may be able to assist qualified applicants with obtaining required Home Care Aide registration and caregiver training.Assisting Hands operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and client assignments are scheduled based on client needs, caregiver qualifications, location, and availability.
