Job description

Frame-to-Finish Carpenters WantedAre you ready to work with great clients, build unique projects, and advance your building science and green building knowledge?Are you an experienced, conscientious, goal-oriented carpenter with your eye on delivering the highest quality work, on budget?Are you tired of working alone and ready to join a collaborative team?We're hiring frame-to-finish carpenters with 3-6 years of experience in the trades and all the usual tools. Juniper Design + Build is an award-winning residential design/build company working in Portland, Maine, and its surrounding communities. We create beautiful, energy-efficient, sustainably-built custom homes and renovations.We do things differently. For starters, we're majority women-owned and managed. You will be too.What we're looking for. We're looking for a skilled carpenter with 4-7 years of hands-on experience across a range of residential construction projects. You should be confident in core carpentry tasks like framing, siding, window and door installation, air sealing, and finish work.We're especially interested in candidates who are curious about high-performance building practices and eager to grow their knowledge of sustainable construction. Certifications like OSHA10, Lead Safe, and Net Zero are a plus—but not required to apply.What we offer:Salary: Starting at $30 an hour and determined by experienceHealth Insurance: 100% employer-paidPaid Time Off: Starting at 120 hours/year, plus 15 holidaysTool Allowance: $250 after 30 days, $500/year after one yearShort and Long Term Disability/Life InsuranceRetirement Plan: 3% company match (SIMPLE IRA)Parking and Ferry StipendsSupport for professional training and developmentA values-aligned team that genuinely enjoys working togetherWork location & requirements. This is a full-time W-2 position. Our office is on Peaks Island, ME (a 15-minute ferry ride from downtown Portland), and we work on jobs throughout the greater Portland area.
