Job description

Maintenance Construction ServicesProvides necessary building maintenance construction services to maintain the hospital's building and when necessary to repair, renovate and construct the hospital's physical plant and its content to provide a livable and workable environment for employees, patients, and the community served.Minimum QualificationsEducation, Certification, and/or Licensure:Must have a current valid driver's licensePreferred QualificationsEducation, Certification, and/or Licensure:High school education or equivalentExperience:Two (2) years of technical school training in trades and/or a minimum of ten years of appropriate commercial/residential construction experience preferred.Must be skilled in all areas of carpentry and general construction.Must be capable and skilled in functions noted but not limited to the following:Office, room, building layout and planningRough framing – metal & woodFinished carpentryDrywall installation and finishingCasework installationCountertop installationLay-in ceiling installationCarpet/VCT/vinyl floor covering installationConcrete work and finishingBrick and block workConstruction supervisionProject take-off and estimating project managementMust be familiar with tools, identification and use, related building codes, general mechanical repairs, machine operations and preventive maintenance gained through direct contact in a maintenance shop or maintenance activities. Hospital experience preferred.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned.Responsible for performing all types of general carpentry work, including, but not limited to, sheetrock work, framing, spackling/taping, suspended ceilings, masonry, flooring, roofing, cabinetry, door hardware and locksmithing.Supervises general maintenance workers by allocating and coordinating work flow, training, and advising, in more complex repair work throughout the hospital.Provides preventive and corrective repair work throughout the hospital.Has access to, and is responsible for, performing assigned duties in locked medication rooms. This position is aware that they are not responsible for medications, and they should report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional.Performs other duties as directedPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
