Carpenter / Trades Technician IIILongwood University invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Carpenter / Trades Technician III. The successful candidate will perform highly skilled carpentry work, including but not limited to repairs, installations, remodeling, and maintenance. This position is considered to be emergency personnel, and must report to work or be called in due to inclement weather, in the case of emergency, staff shortage, etc. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:Perform layout work and assess project requirementsConduct new installations or renovations of buildings on or around campusOrder parts and materials, ensuring accurate cost allocation and documentationPerform repair work on campus buildings, both inside and outside, including structural and cosmetic repairsPrioritize and complete tasks within the designated timeframe specified by the requesterConduct daily campus-wide inspections to identify and resolve any necessary repairsPerform in-shop work to repair or construct new items such as cabinets, boxes, bookshelves, etc.Comply with all OSHA safety standards and regulationsComplete work orders with accurate labor and material costsMaintain a neat and orderly shop and truck inventory, ensuring that unused items are returned to their proper locationsAdhere to all local and state codesOccasionally review labor and material bids for carpentry jobsJob Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentValid Virginia driver's licenseJourneyman-level experience in commercial or residential carpentryProven ability to effectively use a diverse range of tools and machineryExtensive knowledge in repairing door hardware and all panic devicesBasic knowledge of computer and work order systemsAdditional Information: This is a full-time, classified, non-exempt position in pay band 3. The anticipated salary range for this position is $42,000 - $47,000 annually. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required.
