nnBASIC PURPOSE
n nThe purpose of this position is to provide support and coordination for children and youth at the Garden Street Family Shelter.
nnnESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
n
nnCoordinate care coordination of for shelter children and youth
n
nnCoordinate case services with county social workers
n
nnPrepare and plan children’s activities for school break (Winter, Spring, Summer, etc.)
n
nnTransport students to and from school, if needed
n
nnRefer at-risk children to partner agencies for intervention
n
nnServe as a liaison to local school and school districts
n
nnCoordinate educational supports for school aged children
n
nnCoordinate volunteer mentors/tutors for educational supports
n
nnServe on Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) team
n
nnMonitor and observe participants for safety and program policy compliance
n
nnMaintain and organize facility logs (write-ups, overnights, etc.)
n
nnMaintain accurate participant records in various information management systems; and generate reports as requested
n
nnCoordinate on-site recreational activities and maintain good relationships with families
n
nnServe as liaison between the shelter and Oakland Garden Street Corps
n
nnServe and participate on the case conference team
n
nnMaintain and execute confidential information according to HIPPA standards
n
nnMaintain a highly detailed and organized filling system
n
nnAnswer phone, handle routine questions and direct calls
n
nnUtilize harm reduction and trauma informed care principles
n
nnMaintain a professional image and procedures for the front office
n
nnComplete written documentation of participant infractions
n
nnMaintain a neat and organized filling system
n
nnCheck and respond to emails and voicemails on a regular basis
n
nnAdhere to confidentiality standards
n
nnOther duties as assigned
n
nnKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
n
nnAbility to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
n
nnHigh degree of confidentiality
n
nnComputer literate in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
n
nnExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
n
nnExcellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
n
nnHigh degree of organizational skills
n
nnApproach problem solving creatively
n
nnStrong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
n
nnCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
n
nnHigh school diploma
n
nnMinimum three (3) years experience in social services, case management, child services or related field
n
nnMust possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
n
nnMust be 21 years or older
n
nnComplete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
n
nnPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

nnAbility to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
n
nnAbility to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
n
nnAbility to reach overhead
n
nnAbility to operate telephone
n
nnAbility to lift up to 25-40 lbs.

nnAbility to operate a computer
n
nnAbility to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
n
nnAbility to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
