Rate: $30 USD per hour
nDescription
nOVERVIEW:
nThe Caseworker provides case management to families in a shelter, including conducting intakes, assessments, and coordinating housing, mental health, and employment services. They support residents in achieving personalized goals while ensuring program compliance, discharge planning, and transitions to permanent housing and stability. This role reports directly to the Shelter Manager.
nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
nnnProvide case management for homeless families
n
nnKeep records accurate and up to date
n
nnSubmit reports on services and shelter outcomes
n
nnFollow organizational and city care standards, including confidentiality, grievances, and mandated reporting
n
nnAttend case reviews, staff meetings, and trainings; represent Harbor House in the community
n
nnFollow agency and licensing rules on confidentiality, participant rights, and information sharing
n
nnReview and present family progress in weekly case conferences
n
nnAttend hearings and arbitrations as required by the City’s Shelter Grievance Procedure
n
nnEnforce shelter policies, eligibility rules, and participation expectations
n
nnTeach or coordinate life skills classes for self-care and reintegration
n
nnLead groups or classes as needed
n
nnConduct intake and orientation, and create action plans for housing, recovery, and family needs
n
nnRefer participants to community services
n
nnOther related duties as required
n
n nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
nnnHigh school diploma or equivalent (required)
n
nnExperience in case management (1 year required)
n
nnExperience in a homeless shelter, residential program, or direct service setting (1 year required)
n
nnAssociate degree in social work, human services, psychology, sociology, or related field (preferred)
n
nnFirst Aid and CPR certification (within first fourteen days of employment – company provided)
n
nnTuberculosis clearance (within first seven days of employment – company provided)
n
nnExperience and ability to work successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental illness, and other potential barriers to self-sufficiency
n
n nSKILLS AND ABILITIES:
nnnBilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
n
nnIntegrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
n
nnExcellent organizational skills
n
nnAbility to multi-task
n
nnAbility to work with a highly diverse population
n
n nEQUIPMENT USED:
nnModern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
n nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
nnAbility to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes)
