Position Summary
Capital Waste Services is seeking a safety-conscious and dependable Front-End Driver to service commercial waste containers throughout an assigned route. This position operates a Front-End Loader (FEL) truck to safely service commercial dumpsters while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining compliance with all DOT, company, and safety regulations.
The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, and committed to operating safely while maintaining high service standards. This role requires working independently, managing time effectively, and representing Capital Waste Services in a professional manner with customers and the communities we serve.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Safely operate a Front-End Loader (FEL) truck to collect and transport commercial waste.
* Complete assigned routes efficiently and according to established schedules.
* Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
* Ensure proper servicing of commercial containers while minimizing property damage.
* Maintain compliance with all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
* Interact professionally with customers and address service-related concerns appropriately.
* Use route management technology and onboard systems as required.
* Keep vehicles clean and in good operating condition.
* Report accidents, incidents, equipment failures, and safety hazards immediately.
* Complete route documentation, inspection reports, and other required paperwork accurately and timely.
* Assist with training new drivers when assigned.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required
* Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
* Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
* Ability to pass DOT drug screening, background check, and physical examination.
* Minimum age of 21 years.
* Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles in varying weather and traffic conditions.
* Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
* Minimum of 3 years of experience with Front-End
Preferred
* Previous front end, commercial waste, sanitation, or heavy equipment experience.
* Waste industry experience.
* Experience driving automated commercial vehicles or heavy trucks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Thorough understanding of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
* Ability to operate hydraulic equipment safely and efficiently.
* Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Effective communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to manage time and complete routes efficiently.
* Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
* Frequently climb into and out of commercial vehicles.
* Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and climb throughout the workday.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
* Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with vehicle operation and inspections.
Work Environment
* Outdoor work environment with regular exposure to traffic, weather conditions, dust, noise, and waste materials.
* Requires early morning starts, overtime, weekends, and holiday work as business needs dictate.
