Cement Mason ApprenticeMortenson is currently seeking a Cement Mason Apprentice that will be responsible for learning while assisting journeymen masons in all facets of the trade to construct or repair walls, partitions, and other structures.ResponsibilitiesSpread concrete to specified depth and workable consistencyMix cementLevel, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concreteFinish concrete surfaces using power trowel, or wet and rub concrete with abrasive stone to create finishRemove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammerPatch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compoundMold expansion joints and edgesClean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessaryEffectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsAll other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDPrevious experience in construction preferredEnrolled in Apprentice Aptitude ProgramStrong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, and detail orientationAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; knowledge of equipment and their uses; basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication); active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedbackRepetitive hand, arm, leg movements*Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.Please note: this position description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
