Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher ILouisiana Bridge Builders ("LBB") is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.Louisiana Bridge Builders offers a competitive salary, relocation assistance where relocation is required and approved, medical, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, paid holidays, vacation, and sick time, and more.Louisiana Bridge Builders is an equal opportunity employer.Position Purpose/SummaryThe Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher I is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by placing, finishing, repairing concrete surfaces, and curing concrete surfaces to include sidewalks and curbs, to achieve specified textures and finishes while ensuring quality, durability, and safety standards are met.LocationThis position is based in Lake Charles, LA.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesSet forms, screeds and ensure correct alignment, elevation, and gradeMix, pour, spread, level, and smooth concrete using hand tools and power toolsFinish concrete surfaces using trowels, floats, screeds, and edgersApply surface treatments, sealers, and curing compoundsCut expansion joints using hand tools or power sawsCreate decorative finishes (e.g., broom, exposed aggregate, stamped concrete) when requiredMonitor curing process to ensure proper strength and durabilityRepair, patch, and resurface existing concrete structures including use of concrete grinders, demo hammers, mix and pour repair mortars and dry rub finishing tools.Read and interpret repair procedures, and specifications as it relates to concrete placing and repairMaintain tools, equipment, and work area in a safe and clean conditionPerforming all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for SuccessEffectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.Experience placing and finishing bridge decks working around/with Bidwell roller pavers and work bridges asset.Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach a goal.Ability to embrace change in the workplace while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.Ability to function effectively as a team player and collaborator.Ability to work a flexible work schedule, additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations.Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safe and efficiently.Experience working at heights using finishing buggies and/or manlifts.QualificationsThe Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher I position is an entry level role that requires working knowledge, skills, and abilities as they relate to the position.
