Position SummarySets up and operates one or more centerless grinding machines to grind external or internal cylindrical or tapered surfaces of metalwork pieces to blueprint specifications by performing specific dutiesPosition Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:Reads blueprint and job order to product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground, and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be usedMounts grinding wheel and regulating wheel on spindles using wrenchesDresses grinding wheels to specificationsMoves controls to set specified grinding speeds, feed rates, and spacing between wheel facesPositions and secures work rest at specified heightLifts and positions work piece manually or with hoist and secures it between wheels and on work restStarts machine and observes operationVerifies dimensions of ground work piece for conformance to specificationsChanges worn grinding wheelsSets up automatic work feeding deviceQualifications-Education/ExperienceRequired:Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutionsTechnical Skills - Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with othersOral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification as needed; responds well to questionsWritten Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written informationJudgement - Displays a willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgement; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in the decision-making process; makes timely decisionsQuality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure qualitySafety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potential unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properlyAttendance and Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absentQualifications - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
