nJob Description:

nnnDemonstrates knowledge of techniques and treatment modalities for patients of varying ages, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric.

n

nnFollows best practices to reduce potential medication errors.

n

nnDocuments all pertinent data on the patient's medical record after completing service.

n

nnAdministers respiratory therapy treatments, understanding the purpose and possible side effects of each.

n

nnDemonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment, remaining alert to possible side effects.

n

nnFollows departmental equipment sterilization procedures.

n

nnSets up and monitors mechanical ventilators, including airway management and tracheal suctioning.

n

nnPerforms arterial punctures to obtain blood samples for gas analysis, understanding complications and contraindications.

n

nnAssesses patient needs and tolerance for treatment, reassessing responses to therapy.

n

nnManages and operates equipment safely and correctly, inspecting and testing to ensure functionality.

n

nnFormulates and evaluates teaching plans based on patient learning needs, including family involvement as appropriate.

n

nnAbility to perform ABG Puncture, analysis, arterial cannulation using sterile procedure, and hemodynamic monitoring (Required)

nnVentilator patient transportation (Required)

n

nnKnowledge and skill to care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient in a health care delivery system (Required)

nnPrior use of electronic medical records (EMR) (Preferred)

n nWork Experience:

nn1+ years experience as a respiratory therapist (Preferred)

n nAdditional Information:

nnnAn equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the stated degree requirement:

nnAssociate's Degree (Required) OR Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program (Required)

n

nnFor Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist: NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued role eligibility.

n

nnAll States : require NBRC for new hires, and incumbents

n

nnFlorida Exception: legacy incumbents may continue working and may transfer within Florida without a NBRC active credential, subject to an approved, time -limited transition period.

n nLicenses and Certifications:

nnnState Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) (Required) OR State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Required)

nnActive NBRC Credentialed Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) (Preferred)

nnActive NBRC Credentialed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) (Preferred)

nnBasic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)

nnAdvanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) (Required)

nnNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (Required)
