FirefighterThe City of Beaufort is seeking a dedicated firefighter. This position offers a salary range of $50,379.00-$67,410.00, depending on qualifications. The job is located at City Hall in Beaufort, SC, and is full-time within the Fire department.The role involves an extensive hiring process, including an application review, a physical ability test, an oral interview, and a fire chief interview. The firefighter will perform fire suppression activities, participate in fire inspections and investigations, and respond to emergency medical situations. They will also maintain records, operate emergency vehicles, and stay on call 24 hours a day for emergencies.The essential functions include fire suppression duties, vehicle and equipment maintenance, fire prevention education, and emergency medical response. Additional duties may include advanced life support functions, depending on certification level.Education and experience requirements vary by level: Firefighter I requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and an IFSAC Firefighter I certificate. Firefighter II and III require additional certifications and training.The position demands strong communication skills, the ability to work under stress, and physical fitness to handle hazardous conditions.
