The Bluebonnet Detention Center in Anson, TX is looking for your compassionate care and expertise in our medical department! Our dedicated staff work to improve lives through education, healthcare, and a variety of support services.
nWhat you'll do: Assist with the safe and timely administration of authorized routine medications, documentation of medication administration, collection of objective clinical data, and other assigned patient-care activities within their training, demonstrated competency, and applicable scope in compliance with MTC Medical policies and applicable customer directives.
nEssential Functions:
nnnReceive, maintain, properly store, and accurately inventory medical supplies.
n
nnAdminister and document medications as prescribed by the provider and within the scope of practice.
n
nnReport refusals, omitted doses, medication discrepancies, vomiting, adverse symptoms, or other concerns immediately to nursing.
n
nnObserve patients during assigned care activities and promptly report changes in condition, abnormal findings, complaints, injuries, or other concerns to the licensed nurse.
n
nnCollect routine specimens, including urine and stool specimens.
n
nnAssist licensed healthcare personnel with examinations, clinics, treatments, procedures, and other patient-care activities within the scope of practice.
n
nnAssist with intake processes by obtaining objective measurements and other non-assessment information as directed by licensed healthcare personnel.
n
nnAccurately document care provided and objective information personally obtained in the patient's health record in accordance with facility policy.
n
nnPrepare and maintain examination and treatment areas for patient care.
n
nnClean and disinfect reusable equipment and patient-care areas according to infection-control policies.
n
nnFollow established infection-prevention practices, including standard precautions, hand hygiene, and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
n
nnEnsure the medical supply cart, trauma bag, PPE room, and facility first aid kits are always fully and accurately stocked and clean.
n
nnStock and organize medical supplies and notify appropriate personnel when supplies require replenishment.
n
nnAssist with maintaining sick call, chronic clinic, and specialty logs.
n
nnPerform 15-minute checks on identified residents and document encounters.
n
nnRecord patient care and report changes in physical or mental status to the health care team.
n
n nIt is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
nEducation and Experience Requirements:
nHigh school diploma or GED required. Must be a Certified Medication Aide or Certified Medical Assistant with appropriate certification or permit. One year of experience in a hospital, clinic, or correctional setting is preferred. Demonstrated competency in word processing and computer data entry is preferred. Must maintain current CPR certification. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required, unless it is waved by management.
