Explore Prescott The Facility - Northern Arizona VA Medical System Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System (NAVAHCS) is a Joint Commission-accredited, complexity level three facility serving over 29,000 Veterans across 65,000 square miles of Northern Arizona. NAVAHCS provides a continuum of primary and secondary level medical, rehabilitative and long-term care to Veterans residing in northern and central Arizona. Acute medical care consists of primary and secondary inpatient medicine and ambulatory care, which includes general medicine, ambulatory procedures, and selected specialized medical clinics. The Emergency Department is open 24 hours/7 days a week. The VA Medical Center is located in Prescott, Arizona and Community Based Outpatient Clinics are located in Anthem, Flagstaff, Cottonwood, Kingman and Lake Havasu City, AZ. NAVAHCS has six Outreach (Telehealth) Clinics; Holbrook, Page, Tuba City, Polacca, Chinle and Kayenta AZ. NAVAHCS catchment area covers 65,000 square miles of northern Arizona.Position Overview (Duties May Include, But Are Not Limited To)CNA helps patients with direct health care needs, often under the supervision of a nurse. CNAs work directly with patients and nurses, helping with the many physical and complex tasks for patient care. Provide direct patient care and/or close observation of patients.Document on patient's observation flow sheet as directed by RN to document patient behavior, Activity of Daily Living, and physical care every tour. Documentation requirements can occur every 15 minutes as delegated by the nurse or charge nurse.Deliver direct patient care to include personal hygiene care (bathing, dressing, toileting), assistance with meals, lifting and moving, and assistance with ambulation.Assist in the full range of nursing care to patients/residents with physical and/or behavioral problems in a hospital, long term care setting under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Vocational Nurse Licensed Practical Nurse, to include, but not limited to taking measures, records and reports weight, height, vital signs, intake and output, foley care, collecting urine, stool and sputum tests, set up and monitor wall and tank oxygen, continuous and intermittent suction, collects and assembles chest suction equipment.Communicate orally with patients/residents, families, interdisciplinary team and other personnel. This includes serving as a preceptor to new CNAs by assisting with the coordination of their orientation and overseeing/assessing their practical experience while in a clinical setting.Recognize and react to emergent patient/resident care situations and intervene while waiting for assistance. For example, recognizing need for basic life support, preventing falls, controlling bleeding and assisting with behavior crisis, etc.Report changes in mental or physical status immediately to assigned nurse/charge nurse.QualificationsIs a certified nursing assistant (CNA)Has at least one year experience as a CNA within the last three years.Is capable of providing nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.Has and maintains current BCLS certification.KurzSolutions is committed to improving health outcomes by providing well-managed companies with the top healthcare talent in the market.
