Job description
Substitute Teacher (Contractor)Glen Urquhart School (GUS), an independent, coeducational day school for students in Pre-K through grade eight, located 45 minutes north of Boston in Beverly Farms, is seeking candidates who will add to the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of our school community.Job Summary:Substitute positions are available in all subject areas for grades Pre-K to 8. These are contractor positions, short term in nature, with some substitutes needed only for a single day while the School may need others for more extended periods. We seek motivated and flexible teachers who understand how young people learn and who can work in a shared and cooperative environment. These positions require a bachelor's degree and classroom experience or equivalent. Candidates should be familiar with the developmental needs of 3-14 year olds as well as the appropriate subject area content. GUS seeks candidates who will reflect and support the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of our school community.Key ResponsibilitiesImplement the daily lesson plan provided by the absent teacher.Maintain classroom discipline and foster a respectful, focused learning environment.Supervise students during class activities and other school-related activities as needed.Follow school policies and procedures to ensure student safety and well-being.Assist students with assignments, projects, and individual learning needs.Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and classroom activities.Ensure that all student work and materials are collected and returned appropriately at the end of the day.QualificationsAt GUS, we recognize that there are innumerable ways to learn, grow, and excel professionally. Typical school hours are from 8 AM until 3 PM.
