nJob Description:
nThe Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will provide personal care and support services for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is essential in meeting the personal needs of patients, promoting comfort, and ensuring safety. The CNA is responsible for observing and reporting patient conditions and documenting care provided.
nKey Responsibilities:
nnnPerform personal care tasks, including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen.
n
nnAssist patients with dressing, undressing, and feeding as assigned.
n
nnTake and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) as ordered.
n
nnProvide skin care to prevent breakdown over bony prominence.
n
nnReport significant changes in patient conditions to the Registered Nurse Case Manager.
n
nnAssist in patient ambulation and exercise as instructed.
n
nnOffer and assist with bedpans and urinals.
n
nnPerform light laundry tasks and maintain tidy patient living spaces.
n
nnConduct range of motion exercises and other simple procedures as instructed.
n
nnProvide respite care for families and caregivers when appropriate.
n
nnAdhere to documentation and care procedures, maintaining professional conduct.
n
nnParticipate in quality assessment performance improvement activities.
n
nnRespect patient and family environments and needs.
n
nnParticipate in on-call duties as assigned.
n
n nPosition Qualifications:
nnnSuccessful completion of state-established training and competency evaluation programs.
n
nnAt least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
n
nnOne year of home health or hospice experience preferred.
n
nnMust be at least 18 years old.
n
nnAbility to read and follow written instructions and document care.
n
nnSelf-directed with the ability to work independently.
n
nnEmpathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and impaired.
n
nnCurrent CPR certification.
n
nnLicensed driver with insured and reliable automobile.
n
nnExcellent oral and written communication skills.
n
nnExcellent organizational skills.
n
nnDemonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
n
n nWorking Conditions:
nnnCommunity home environment.
n
nnFrequent travel in and out of an automobile.
n
n nJob Limitations:
nThe CNA will not perform tasks that are considered the practice of nursing as per the Nurse Practice Act.
