Health AssistantUnder supervision of a licensed School Nurse, the health assistant will facilitate timely access to school-based healthcare, assist with basic first-aid needs, and perform accurate record keeping and reporting.Essential Duties:Effectively manages flow of clinic/office by receiving students and determining reason for visit and assistance needed.Assists nurse in the provision of basic careAdministers medications and treatments as directed by a licensed physician and district policies and procedures.Performs basic first aid proceduresMaintains accurate medical records, logs and reportsOrders supplies and maintains clinic stockSanitizes and maintains equipmentContacts parents to disseminate student medical informationStays abreast of and adheres to all federal, state and district regulationsMay perform additional duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):High School Diploma or GED1 -2 years of healthcare and/or clerical experiencePreferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities): Current CMA or CNA license preferred · Effective written and verbal communications skills · Excellent customer service skills · Ability to remain calm and assist during moderately stressful situationsPhysical/Mental Requirements:Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.Sitting for prolonged periods of time.May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.Work Environment:Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.This job description is not intended to be all inclusive.
