Job description

Certified Nursing AssistantAssist professional nursing staff by performing simple treatments and related bedside patient care as well as transporting patients and performing some clerical duties. Uphold the organization's vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization's policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.Essential Functions:Provide for comfort and well-being of patients by performing basic nursing duties such as transportation within the facilityAssist patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, or eatingAid physicians and nursing staff members with procedures if neededCollect non-invasive body fluid specimens or gather vital signsDocument patient interactions as neededPerform duties of an administrative assistant or a unit clerk when assignedPerform other duties as assignedPersonal Traits:All Norton Sound Health Corporation employees are expected to consistently demonstrate the organization's values: integrity, cultural sensitivity and respect for traditional values, continual learning and improving, compassion, teamwork and pride. All employees should have patient/customer service skills, interpersonal skills and good communication skills. All employees should have the ability to manage their time and organize their work to ensure efficient performance. In addition, all employees should have the ability to follow policy, procedure and instructions, actively communicate with their supervisors to ensure understanding and manage their work accordingly. Finally, all employees should have the ability to understand and manage patient/customer confidentiality. Job specific skills and abilities are listed below:Above average communication skillsProblem solving and critical thinking skillsInterpersonal skills and teamworkMinimum Requirements:Education: High School Diploma or equivalentExperience: 2 year(s) of medical experienceCredentials: Alaska State Licensure as a Nursing AssistantPhysical Requirements:Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipmentSit less than half the workdayStand and/or walk more than half the workdayBend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reachUse hands and arms for repetitive motion tasks consistently for more than one hour at a timeLift or carry unaided up to 50 poundsPush or pull using up to moderate forceSee and hear with normal acuityWorking Conditions:Work is conducted in a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazard or other harmful substancesMinimal travel is required (less than 25% of the time)
