Job description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students in a vibrant community just across the North Carolina border, approximately 1.5 hours south of Roanoke. This full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) position offers the chance to collaborate with two experienced virtual Occupational Therapists while making a significant impact on a diverse K-12 caseload. The assignment starts ASAP and runs through the end of the school year.
Qualifications:
Valid COTA licensure and certification
Previous experience within a school, pediatric, or K-12 setting preferred
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with OTs, educators, and families
Proficient in documentation and progress tracking
Comfortable using technology for virtual communication and reporting
Adaptable and able to support a variety of student needs across multiple grade levels
Key Responsibilities: Implement therapeutic activities as outlined in students' IEPs under the supervision of two remote Occupational Therapists
Support gross and fine motor skill development, sensory integration, and functional daily living skills
Facilitate sessions individually and in small groups across K-12 classrooms
Collaborate regularly with teachers and families to monitor progress and share strategies
Maintain accurate records, assist with assessment data, and contribute to IEP meetings as needed
Foster an inclusive, encouraging learning environment for all students
