Certified Occupational Therapist AssistantThe Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant is a skilled professional entrusted with aiding in the coordination, oversight, assessment, and delivery of Occupational Therapy Services to clients across diverse environments, as directed by the overseeing Occupational Therapist.QualificationsGraduate of an Occupational Therapy school approved by the Council of Medical Education of the A.M.A. in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association or its equivalentCertification as a COTA by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)Has at least one year of experience, preferably in a home health or related settingLicensed in applicable stateResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, assists in evaluation and establishes goals based on the client's current level of functioning and potential for improvement and performs re-evaluations as indicated which are documented on the required form(s)As directed, guides and instructs the client in prescribed therapeutic, self-care, and creative activities that are directed toward improving independence and physical and mental functioningConducts household management routines based in OT recommendationConsults with the Therapist regarding the outcome of home visits and reports any changes in the client's condition through periodic written summariesAssumes duties deemed appropriate and necessary by the supervising Occupational TherapistPrepares clinical/progress notes on the day of the visit which are incorporated in the clinical record weeklyParticipates in staff development activities and in-service educationCommunicates effectively with all those providing careConfirms, on a weekly basis, the scheduling of visits with the DON to coordinate necessary visits with other personnelBenefitsPay: Varies by visitLocation: In-personJob Type: Full timeSpecial RequirementsMust have a car with required insurance coverage and a state driver's license or reliable transportationMalpractice insurance coverageFunctional AbilitiesAble to communicate verbally and in writing to the extent required by the positionAble to physically perform the duties required by the positionAble to travel to prospective clients' residences within Miami-Dade and Monroe County
