Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – Part-Time

nLocation: Murfreesboro, TN

nJob Summary

nWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our growing home health team in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), the COTA will provide skilled occupational therapy services in patients' homes, helping individuals improve functional independence, safety, and overall quality of life.

nThis position offers a flexible part-time schedule and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering patient-centered care in a home health setting.

nEssential Duties and Responsibilities

nnImplement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.

nProvide occupational therapy interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, strength, coordination, balance, and fine motor skills.

nEducate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, home safety techniques, and strategies that promote independence.

nMonitor patient progress and communicate treatment outcomes, concerns, and changes in condition to the supervising Occupational Therapist.

nComplete accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

nMaintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

nCollaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to support positive patient outcomes.

nParticipate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuing education activities as needed.

nFollow all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and professional standards.

n nQualifications

nRequired

nnAssociate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

nCurrent Tennessee license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).

nCurrent CPR/BLS certification.

nValid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.

nAbility to travel throughout the Murfreesboro service area.

n nPreferred

nnNBCOT certification.

nPrevious home health experience.

nExperience working with adult and geriatric populations.

n nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

nnStrong understanding of occupational therapy principles and treatment techniques.

nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.

nAbility to work independently while maintaining communication with the supervising Occupational Therapist.

nStrong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.

nCompassionate and patient-focused approach to care.

n nPhysical Requirements

nnAbility to lift, transfer, reposition, and assist patients as necessary.

nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.

nAbility to safely transport therapy equipment and supplies.

nAbility to navigate various residential environments.

n nWork Environment

nnServices are provided in patients' homes throughout Murfreesboro and surrounding communities.

nFrequent local travel is required.

nWork is performed independently in a variety of home settings.

nMay encounter stairs, pets, varying home conditions, and environmental factors typical of residential care.

nMust be able to adapt treatment approaches to support patient safety and achieve therapeutic goals in the home environment.
