Job description
Occupational Therapy AssistantResponsibilities/Duties:Responsible for providing treatment as directed by the Occupational Therapist.Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effects and discuss observations with the OT.Ability to perform components of an appropriate assessment on all residents as related to the therapy requested and provided, and reassessments as per policy.Able to assess patient/resident pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation – makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.Assists with formulation of a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assesses effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriate.Coordinates and assists with directing patient care to ensure patients/residents' needs are met and hospital/nursing home policy is followed.Performs other duties as assigned.Education/Experience:Required:AA Degree from a school or college approved by the American Occupational Therapy AssociationCurrent state of Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Assistant licenseCurrent certification by the NBCOTProfessional Skills & Expectations:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsMaintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA policyExhibit ability to deal with difficult situations, demonstrating good judgment and tactfulness, while remaining professional and courteousMaintains regulatory requirementsWears identification while on duty; uses computerized time system correctlyExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsCritical thinking and problem solvingPhysical Requirements & Environmental Conditions:Constantly:Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job.
