Summary
The Milwaukee VAMC is looking for two Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in the Anesthesia Department. These positions are eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program and a recruitment incentive may be paid to highly qualified candidates. This is an open continuous announcement until June 9, 2027. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available and until positions are filled.
Responsibilities
The Advanced Practice Nurse/Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (APN/CRNA) administers anesthesia in both inpatient and outpatient settings to patients of all health complexities.
Direct patient care includes administration, education, and research activities.
CRNAs render patients insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgical and invasive procedures utilizing general and regional anesthesia and all levels of sedation techniques.
Collaborate with a variety of health care professionals to achieve common goals for care, safety, and welfare of patients.
Foster high levels of confidence and satisfaction among patients and staff and meet and exceed compliance standards.
Provide anesthetic services within five general categories: pre‑anesthesia evaluation and preparation; anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence; post‑anesthesia care; peri‑anesthetic and clinical support functions; and emergency response techniques.
Develop and implement a comprehensive anesthesia plan of care for patients requiring local, regional, general, and monitored anesthesia both inside and outside the Operating Room (OR) suite.
Ensure anesthetic services delivered throughout the facility are of the highest quality to promote patient safety, satisfaction, and improve outcomes and efficiencies.
Function as a resource for staff education and serve as a preceptor and adjunct clinical faculty for health care trainees rotating through the facility.
Develop and implement evidence‑based practices essential to the delivery of the highest quality anesthesia care.
Prescribe appropriate pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and postoperative orders and medications.
