Job DescriptionThe Certified Scrub Tech supports surgical procedures across general surgery, orthopedics, and multiple specialties. Reporting to the nurse manager, this role contributes to surgical preparation, sterile-field support, instrument passing, room turnover, and equipment readiness, with participation tailored to each procedure and shared responsibilities with the circulating nurse.
Responsibilities
Prepare operating rooms and specialty-specific equipment for surgical procedures.
Establish and maintain the sterile field using aseptic technique.
Handle, organize, and pass surgical instruments during procedures.
Assist with patient positioning and operative preparation.
Manage specimens and complete accurate surgical counts.
Support surgical teams during general surgery, orthopedic, and other procedures.
Perform standard room turnover procedures and help ensure equipment readiness.
Manage supplies, support sterilization activities, and comply with safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience practicing as a surgical technologist.
Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, operating room procedures, and aseptic technique.
Knowledge of medical terminology and patient safety practices.
Strong attention to detail, team collaboration, and communication skills.
