Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)Position Overview: We are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team in a full-time, on-site capacity. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the quality and compliance of welded assemblies through in-process inspections and detailed reporting. This is a hands-on position focused on shop-floor presence, documentation, and collaboration with production and quality teams.Core Responsibilities Include:Perform in-process and final weld inspections in accordance with applicable codes and specificationsRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and customer specificationsDevelop detailed weld maps using internal layouts and customer-supplied drawingsGenerate comprehensive weld inspection reports including:Itemized weld joints and seamsMaterial and filler certificationsWelder certifications and activity reportsWPS and PQR documentationInspection dates and third-party test reportsStud test reportsEnsure compliance with applicable codes, including AWS and ASME standardsMaintain detailed, accurate records in support of internal audits and customer traceability requirementsPreferred Experience and Skills:CWI Certification (AWS QC1 required)Familiarity with relevant codes:AWS D1.1, D1.6, B2.1, A2.4ASME Section IXAGS-G006Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Adobe AcrobatBasic AutoCAD experience a plusStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently on the shop floorNote: While CWE certification is respected, this role does not require a welding engineer and may not be the best fit for someone seeking engineering-level responsibilities.Physical and Mental RequirementsPhysical Requirement: Balancing; climbing; bending; stooping; crawling; some light, moderate, heavy lifting and carrying; must have fine motor skills; be able to grasp small items; kneeling; pushing; reaching above shoulder; pulling hand over hand; ability to do a repetitive motion; and the ability to sit, stand and walk for most of the day. Mobility requirement enough to move around the production area safely and various types of customer locationsVisual Requirement: Must be able to visually read documents, read from a computer screen, see system detailsHearing Requirement: Must be able to hear and speak on the phone and in person to convey information. Must be able to identify hazard sounds and be aware of the environment on the production floor/customer sites for safetyMental Requirement: Comprehension, Organization, Reasoning, Decision Making, Communication, and Mathematics
