Job description
Role Overview:
The RN Charge Nurse provides leadership and clinical expertise during their shift, coordinating resources to ensure appropriate staffing and patient care. They serve as a clinical support for staff, model professionalism, and oversee unit operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess patients holistically and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Delegate, coordinate, and supervise nursing care to ensure quality and safety.
Manage staffing needs, optimize resource utilization, and handle operational leadership within the unit.
Evaluate patient responses, revise care plans, and ensure documentation accuracy.
Promote professional behavior, coaching staff, and fostering accountability.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and incident management.
Support effective communication and conflict resolution among staff, patients, and families.
Complete required Charge Nurse training and engage in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications & Skills:
Current RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience in clinical nursing and mentoring.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN); completion within four years if hired without one.
Strong assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, collaboration, leadership, and communication skills.
