Battery Energy Storage Systems | United States
Upcoming Mandate | Anticipated Hire: Q1 2027
We are identifying senior commercial leaders for an upcoming mandate with a key client in the battery energy storage systems (BESS) sector, with an anticipated hire in Q1 2027.
The opportunity will focus on scaling the company’s U.S. business, with particular emphasis on winning and expanding commercial relationships with hyperscalers, data center owners, operators, and developers.
This is a commercial leadership position with direct accountability for sales, revenue growth, strategic account development, and customer acquisition. We are seeking an executive who can turn senior customer relationships into contracted business and build the commercial organization required to support growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the U.S. commercial strategy, prioritizing BESS opportunities within hyperscale and data center markets.
Establish and expand relationships with senior decision-makers across energy procurement, power infrastructure, development, and executive leadership.
Personally lead major sales opportunities from initial engagement through negotiation and contract execution.
Secure strategic customer agreements and opportunities for deployments across multiple sites.
Build and lead the sales and business development team, with clear revenue targets and disciplined pipeline management.
Develop commercial partnerships with utilities, developers, EPC contractors, and integrators.
Where relevant, develop government and public-sector relationships that support sales and energy infrastructure opportunities.
Work with technical, finance, and delivery teams to develop competitive, profitable, and executable customer proposals.
Required Experience:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience within the battery energy storage space , including substantial experience in sales or commercial leadership.
Must have a proven track record of establishing and developing commercial relationships with hyperscalers, with evidence of converting those relationships into sales opportunities, strategic partnerships, or contracted business.
Must be based in the United States, with willingness to travel domestically.
Demonstrated success growing revenue, winning strategic accounts, and closing complex BESS contracts.
Experience navigating enterprise procurement processes and negotiating significant commercial agreements.
A strong understanding of BESS applications and customer economics relevant to data center power requirements, resilience, and energy management.
Proven ability to build commercial teams while remaining personally involved in customer development and closing business.
Government relationships and public-sector sales experience would be advantageous.
