Job description

We are looking for a someone with a strong background in hotel/resort maintenance, has a passion for providing customer service, is highly motivated, and detail oriented to join our team as a The Chief Engineer. This individual provides oversight of the maintenance department and is responsible for ensuring the working order of all mechanical equipment as well as repair and maintenance of the property. The primary focus is on engineering operations, including maintenance, repair of hotel property, outside grounds, hotel equipment, preventative maintenance, and asset protection. This person will identify needs, organize staff and contractors, and oversee the completion of the maintenance needs. You will be working closely with different members of our team, so you will need to be quick on your feet and have an engaging attitude. Your role: Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead all maintenance, engineering, and building operations for The Kendall Hotel. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient performance of all systems while driving team development and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, train, and manage the Engineering team

Oversee maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems

Manage preventive maintenance programs

Develop and manage budgets; perform cost and ROI analysis

Oversee capital projects, renovations, and vendor contracts

Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations

Communicate with local regulatory agencies as needed

Interpret construction drawings and building plans

Leadership & Team Development

Hire, coach, and evaluate team members

Drive ongoing training and development programs

Maintain high performance, engagement, and accountability

Qualifications

5+ years of engineering experience in hospitality or similar environment

Strong leadership and communication skills

Experience with building systems and preventive maintenance programs

Financial acumen (budgeting, cost control, ROI analysis)

Ability to read technical drawings

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel

Degree and/or certifications preferred #IND100
