Job description

CSMV Underwriting Managers is seeking a hands-on CFO to lead our financial strategy and oversee our accounting team. Insurance industry experience and full-time, on-site availability are non-negotiable. Experience with an MGA or wholesale insurance organization is strongly preferred.

We move quickly and want a CFO who does, too. We are focused on automating manual work, improving accuracy, and building efficient processes as we grow. The right person will be comfortable using technology to make the finance team faster and more effective.

What you’ll do

Take ownership of the accounting processes and financial information currently managed by our Accounting Manager, and lead the full accounting team.

Oversee the general ledger, payables, receivables, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting.

Manage insurance-specific accounting, including premiums, commissions, carrier and agency balances, and program profitability.

Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, financial analysis, and reporting for the CEO and leadership team.

Drive automation across accounting and finance. Identify repetitive work, improve system integrations, and build processes that deliver timely, reliable information.

Establish clear deadlines, accountability, internal controls, and performance standards for the team.

Lead tax planning, preparation, and filings directly where qualified, or oversee external tax professionals and ensure the work is completed accurately and on time.

Manage audits, banking relationships, external accountants, and other financial partners.

Advise leadership on growth plans, investments, staffing, and other major financial decisions.

Required qualifications

Significant accounting and finance leadership experience in insurance. This is a must.

Ability to work full-time, on-site in Tamarac, Florida. This is a must.

Experience managing an accounting team and owning financial reporting, controls, and cash management.

Strong understanding of insurance premium flows, commissions, and carrier and agency accounting.

A technology-forward mindset and demonstrated ability to automate workflows and improve efficiency.

The ability to make sound decisions, meet deadlines, and keep pace in a fast-moving business.

Preferred qualifications

CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or comparable leadership experience with an MGA, wholesale brokerage, program administrator, or insurance carrier.

CPA designation and direct experience with business tax planning and filings.

Experience improving finance systems and supporting a growing insurance organization.

If you have deep insurance finance experience, move with urgency, and enjoy building efficient teams and systems, we would like to hear from you.
