This is an incredible opportunity to join a mission-driven leadership team and contribute to a culture grounded in compassionate, person-centered care.

Responsibilities

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer with essential partnerships across Quality, Nursing, Risk Management, and the medical staff. The CMO will serve as the senior clinical voice for the hospital and will be responsible for enhancing quality outcomes, strengthening medical staff processes, and improving patient flow and clinical efficiency while fostering a culture of equity, respect, and teamwork. The CMO will act as the primary liaison between administration and the medical staff, ensuring consistent communication and alignment across clinical operations, governance, and performance improvement. This role requires a pragmatic, emotionally intelligent, patient-focused leader dedicated to serving the mission of “compassionate care for every life we touch.” The incoming CMO will bring credibility, humility, and operational understanding to a small, community-focused hospital with a deeply invested medical staff and leadership team.

The Ideal Candidate

Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive physician leadership experience in a hospital or health system.

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine required.

Eligible for licensure in the State of Wyoming.

Demonstrated success in quality, safety, medical staff leadership, and clinical governance.

Experience with rural or community-based hospitals strongly preferred.

Operational understanding of workflows across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural areas.

Servant leader with humility that is team-oriented, approachable and grounded.

Loyalty to the mission, community and hospital.

Strong appreciation for small-town dynamics and relationship-driven environments.

Fairness and consistency in all peer review, governance and interpersonal interactions.

Board certification in a clinical discipline required (active or prior certification acceptable).
