Job description
Our client is an ambitious early-stage venture positioned at the intersection of prediction markets & peer-to-peer social gaming. The business is developing a next-generation consumer platform that combines prediction-based experiences with sports communities, player data, tournaments, gamification, content and social engagement.Strategic infrastructure and technology partnerships are already in place, and an existing remote development team is actively building the platform. The business is now entering the critical phase of bringing the product together, preparing for launch and building the operational foundations required for future scale.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Founder, the Chief Operating Officer will be the key executive responsible for bringing the different parts of the business together and driving the company from product development through launch, commercialisation and scale.
This is a broad, hands-on leadership role rather than a traditional corporate operations position. The successful candidate will oversee operational execution, product delivery, commercial strategy, partnerships, go-to-market activity, streaming and content initiatives, social media growth and organisational development.
The ideal individual will combine deep sector knowledge with the pace, commercial judgement and execution mindset required to build an early-stage consumer business.
Key Responsibilities
Business Operations
Drive day-to-day execution across the business and ensure priorities translate into measurable progress.
Establish clear operating processes, reporting structures, ownership and accountability.
Coordinate activity across product, technology, operations, marketing, content and commercial functions.
Create an execution-focused culture suited to a fast-moving, founder-led environment.
Identify operational risks, remove delivery blockers and keep the business progressing towards launch.
Product & Launch Execution
Work closely with the Founder and development team to define launch priorities and delivery milestones.
Maintain alignment between the commercial vision, customer experience and product roadmap.
Bring structure and discipline to product decision-making, helping control scope and prioritise the features required for launch.
Coordinate internal teams and external technology partners to support a successful market launch.
Build the operational model required to support the platform after launch.
Industry knowledge
Apply strong knowledge of prediction markets, betting, DFS and digital gaming to the company’s operating and commercial strategy.
Help shape the customer proposition, market positioning and user journey.
Ensure the business is built with an understanding of the operational, commercial and compliance demands of the sector.
Identify relevant industry trends, partnership opportunities and new routes to market.
Streaming, Social Media & Community Growth
Develop the operating strategy for streaming, creator-led content, social media and community engagement.
Build relationships with influencers, creators, media partners, sports communities and other relevant channels.
Work with marketing and growth teams to create acquisition, engagement and retention initiatives.
Ensure content, streaming and social activity are connected to the wider product and revenue strategy.
Help create a highly engaging consumer experience with strong social and community-led characteristics.
Commercial Growth & Partnerships
Develop and execute the go-to-market plan alongside the Founder.
Build strategic relationships across sports, gaming, media, social platforms and technology.
Support the acquisition and onboarding of clubs, communities, commercial partners and users.
Identify growth opportunities across the United States and future international markets.
Help turn the platform into a scalable and sustainable revenue-generating business.
Leadership & Organisation
Act as the Founder’s primary operational and strategic partner.
Provide leadership and direction to the existing distributed team.
Recruit and develop additional talent as the business grows.
Create effective collaboration across remote and office-based team members.
Help shape the company’s longer-term organisational structure and strategic direction.
Experience & Requirements
Previous experience as a COO, President, General Manager, Managing Director, Chief Business Officer or similar senior operational leader.
Demonstrable experience within predictions, online gambling, sports betting, gaming or a closely related consumer digital sector.
Experience launching, operating or scaling a consumer-facing digital platform.
Strong understanding of influencer / streamer acquisition channels, social media, content and community-led customer acquisition.
Experience leading cross-functional teams across product, technology, marketing, operations and commercial activity.
Ability to introduce structure and accountability without slowing down an entrepreneurial business.
Strong commercial judgement and the ability to move comfortably between strategy and hands-on execution.
Highly Desirable
Experience in social gaming, sweepstakes, fantasy sports or peer-to-peer gaming.
Experience working with streaming platforms, creators, influencers or digital media partnerships.
Experience building an early-stage or founder-led business through launch and significant growth.
