As needed to fill Childbirth Education Classes
Classes are offered on weekends and evening.
General Summary
Develops, coordinates and presents childbirth education programs for the community.

Essential Functions:
Provides accurate information about the physiology, psychology, and sociology of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
Provides skills to assist women and their support persons to cope with pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and early parenthood.
Acts as a facilitator who helps couples better understand and value their experience as they transition into parenthood.
Provides an avenue for communication between the pregnant women and other members of the health care team.
Serves as an advocate for pregnant women, their partners and infants.
Communicates accurate information about pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and early parenthood in a clear, concise, understandable manner
Serves as a resource to the community by developing and planning programs in response to identified needs.
Common Expectations: Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Enhances professional growth and development through advanced/continuing education to maintain up-to-date knowledge, skills, and competencies.
Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Associates Degree Required
Work Experience: 1 year In OB specialty (labor and delivery, maternity, NICU). Required
Experience as an educator in a health related field/organization. Preferred
Licenses: Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Preferred and
Heartsaver CPR/AED Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of adult and childhood educational principles.
Strong communications skills.
