Growth happens through challenging projects, mentorship from experienced builders, and opportunities that stretch your skill set.With RK University, accredited apprenticeships, competitive benefits, and deep community investment, RK offers the stability of a family-owned company with the opportunity and momentum of an industry leader.The commercial Chiller Technician position requires the individual to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install commercial HVAC and related equipment as assigned with a heavy focus on large commercial and industrial chillers typically found in hospitals, universities, commercial office buildings, and large manufacturing facilities.The individual must also assume day-to-day coordination of specific agreements or projects as assigned to ensure contractual commitments are met in a timely, cost-effective manner.Role Responsibilities:Able to respond to heavy workload of service calls in a professional manner.Communicates effectively with customers, regardless of their level of technical knowledge: can explain to customer the cause of their problem and the remedy; if problem has not been repaired, offers explanation of situation and recommended next steps.Able to follow and utilize troubleshooting guides to identify problems in a short period of timeConsistently checks system operations and safety and limit controls before leaving job locationsEnsures customers' questions/concerns have been addressed before leaving the work siteUses proper tools and instruments while troubleshootingIncorporates solution techniques to assist other service representatives and helps resolve issues and customer problemsSchedules arrival and departure with customersCommunicates tactfully to offer suggestions if system problems are caused by the customerDemonstrates ability to determine priorities based on a call schedule, responding to inadvertent interruptions, carrying proper tools and materials, and scheduling vehicle maintenancePromptly and accurately completes all required paperworkKeeps supervisor and manager informed of new developments, changes, or customer complaintsCompletes service reports daily: obtains customer signature on all service reportsSigns up for memberships and technical organizations to improve knowledge and skillsKeeps technical knowledge current regarding equipment and conceptsSearches out and reads applicable manualsQualificationsAbility to troubleshoot commercial chiller systems and related equipmentUniversally EPA CertifiedMinimum of 10 years' experience with maintaining and servicing commercial chillers, including chiller maintenance, annuals, and overhaulsExperience working on a range of chillers, including York, Carrier, Daiken, McQuay, Trane, etcExperience working on Smart chillersMust possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record as required by the company's insurance provider.Experience with work on; chillers (centrifugal, screw, scroll, Magnetic bearing, Compressors), boilers, RTU's, Package Units, Air Handlers, Cooling towersMinimum Physical Requirements:Able to lift 75 lbs from floor to waist with possible repetition Able to lift 50 lbs from shoulder to overheadAble to work with both arms above head for minimum of 5 minutes Able to carry 50 lbs for a distance of 25 feetAble to push or pull 125 for a distance of 500 feet Able to climb stairs and laddersAble to carry 30 lbs while climbing stairs or a ladderAble to grip and operate hand tools, powers tools and safety equipment, such as chain falls Able to lift legs and step over obstacles up to 19 inches above the groundAble to perform work while in varying physical positions, such as lying on side, in a kneeling position, while standing on a ladderAble to access rooftop units and work at heights and in some cases tight or enclosed spaces Able to wear a respirator if conditions require; may have exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materialsAble to crawl for a distance of 200 feetAble to stoop, crouch or kneel for up to 10 minutes at a timeApplications are accepted on an ongoing basisRK Industries, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
