Base Pay $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 / Year

Employee Type Exempt FT

Location: Austin, Texas

Schedule: Hybrid — some days in office with remote flexibility

Employment Type: Full-Time

Base Salary: $150,000–$175,000, depending on experience

Bonus Opportunity: Tiered performance-based bonus in addition to base salary

About the Role

Baker Law Group is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate to join our growing Texas litigation team in Austin.

This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity for an attorney with approximately 3–7 years of civil litigation experience who is ready to take meaningful ownership of cases, work directly with clients, and continue developing as a well-rounded litigator.

Our Texas practice handles a broad range of civil matters, including business disputes, real estate litigation, construction matters, contract disputes, employment-related matters, defamation claims, landlord-tenant disputes, and other general civil litigation.

The right candidate will be comfortable managing significant portions of cases independently while working closely with senior attorneys on strategy, complex matters, and professional development.

What You’ll Do

The Civil Litigation Associate will:

Manage civil litigation matters and substantial portions of cases from initial assessment through resolution

Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents

Conduct legal research and provide practical legal analysis

Manage written discovery, document production, and case investigation

Take and defend depositions based on experience and case needs

Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials

Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, deadlines, and next steps

Evaluate legal and factual issues and help develop case strategy

Negotiate with opposing counsel and assist with settlement discussions

Coordinate with paralegals and legal support staff to keep matters organized and moving forward

Maintain deadlines and manage multiple active matters effectively

Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex litigation and case strategy

Develop greater independence and courtroom responsibility as experience grows

Contribute to the continued growth of Baker Law Group’s Texas litigation practice

Types of Matters

The attorney may work on matters involving:

Construction and construction-defect disputes

Business and commercial litigation

Partnership and ownership conflicts

Employment-related litigation

Defamation matters

Landlord-tenant and property disputes

Pre-litigation demands and negotiations

Experience in every area is not required. We are looking for a strong civil litigation foundation, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn unfamiliar subject matter quickly.

What We’re Looking For

Strong candidates will have:

Approximately 3–7 years of civil litigation experience

Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills

Experience drafting substantive pleadings, motions, and discovery

Experience managing litigation deadlines and case responsibilities

Exposure to depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation

The ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Sound judgment and willingness to seek input when appropriate

The ability to balance multiple matters and competing priorities

A practical, collaborative, and low-ego working style

Interest in developing greater case ownership and courtroom responsibility

Desire to contribute to the growth of a developing Texas practice

Deposition and courtroom experience are strongly valued, but we will consider candidates whose overall litigation background demonstrates strong potential for continued growth.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a base salary of $150,000–$175,000 , depending on experience and qualifications.
