Housekeeper PositionThe Cleaning Services Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment throughout Mountain Laurel Medical Center (MLMC) facilities. This position performs routine cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, waiting areas, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, vestibules, and other assigned spaces in accordance with established cleaning procedures, infection prevention practices, and workplace safety standards.The Housekeeper plays an important role in supporting patient and employee safety and creating a positive experience for patients, visitors, and staff.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPatient Care and Exam RoomsCleans and disinfects exam rooms and other assigned patient care areas.Cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces using approved cleaning products and procedures.Cleans floors and addresses spills, debris, or other cleaning needs as necessary.Empties trash and replaces liners.Ensures exam rooms are clean and ready for the next day's operations.Waiting Rooms and Common AreasCleans and maintains floors in waiting rooms and other assigned common areas.Cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces, including door handles, light switches, counters, and other frequently touched areas.Empties trash and replaces liners.Maintains waiting areas in a clean, orderly, and welcoming condition.Cleans vestibules, including floors, surfaces, entry areas, and high-touch surfaces.Removes debris and trash from assigned areas.RestroomsCleans and disinfects restroom floors and surfaces.Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilets, fixtures, and other restroom surfaces.Empties trash and replaces liners.Removes debris and addresses spills or other cleaning needs.Cleans and disinfects high-touch areas.Replenishes restroom supplies as needed.Office SpacesCleans office floors weekly and additionally as needed.Empties office trash Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.Performs additional cleaning as needed to maintain a clean and appropriate work environment.BreakroomsCleans breakroom floors weekly and additionally as needed.Empties trash daily.Cleans appropriate counters, tables, sinks, and other surfaces to maintain a clean and sanitary shared space.General Cleaning and Safety ResponsibilitiesPerforms cleaning and disinfection using MLMC-approved products, equipment, and procedures.Gives daily attention to frequently touched surfaces throughout assigned areas.Follows applicable infection prevention, environmental safety, and workplace safety procedures.Uses cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and established safety requirements.Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.Identifies and promptly reports spills, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, or conditions requiring additional attention.Maintains cleaning supplies and notifies the appropriate individual when supplies need to be replenished.Properly handles and disposes of waste in accordance with established procedures.Secures cleaning supplies and chemicals appropriately.Maintains cleaning equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.Respects patient and employee privacy and maintains confidentiality while working throughout MLMC facilities.Performs duties in a manner that minimizes disruption to patient care and organizational operations.Provides courteous and professional interactions with patients, visitors, and staff.Performs other cleaning and housekeeping duties as assigned.Upholds the Code of Ethics and mission of Mountain Laurel Medical Center in a manner consistent with the core values of patient-focused, respect, accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and integrity.Work Schedule, Location & Transportation RequirementsMust have reliable transportation to report to assigned MLMC work locations and to travel between MLMC locations as needed.Primary work location and schedule will be established based on organizational needs. The employee may be assigned or reassigned to other MLMC locations as operational needs require.Eligible business-related travel between MLMC locations will be reimbursed in accordance with MLMC's mileage reimbursement policy.Work schedule will include daytime and evenings. However, nights and/or weekend hours may be needed based on the operational needs of the assigned location.Must be able to maintain regular and reliable attendance and report to work as scheduled.RequirementsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.1 - 2 years of previous housekeeping, custodial, environmental services, or commercial cleaning experience preferred.Healthcare cleaning experience preferred but not required.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established cleaning procedures.Ability to safely use cleaning products, chemicals, supplies, and equipment.Ability to work independently and complete assigned duties within established timeframes.Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive cleaning activities.Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies, trash, and equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products as required.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.Work EnvironmentWork is performed throughout a healthcare facility and may include patient care areas, offices, waiting rooms, restrooms, breakrooms, entrances, and other assigned areas. The position may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, infectious materials, and other conditions associated with a healthcare environment. Appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be used as required.General ExpectationsThe Environmental Services Housekeeper is expected to support MLMC's mission and maintain professional, respectful interactions with patients, visitors, coworkers, and other members of the healthcare team. The employee is responsible for following MLMC policies and procedures and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for those we serve.
