Job description
Radiology Department ClerkTo perform the clerical portion of the radiology department. Must serve as the receptionist while preparing and maintaining the daily records of the department. High school graduate or equivalent. Medical or secretarial education preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is a necessity.Reports to Radiology Manager. No direct reports.Serve as the receptionist for the department by answering the phone, scheduling, and receiving patients. Coordinate patient scheduling for all imaging services. Maintain continuity of patient workflow. Maintain daily records of the radiology department including, but not limited to: electronic order entry, working knowledge of JCHC computerized Hospital Information System, basic computer knowledge, keeping files in order, performing charges, and any other duty necessary to maintain order. Ensure the delivery of the radiology reports to proper destinations (medical floors, medical records, and physician clinics). Maintain patient written orders. Assist in patient and physician instruction for exam preparation. Coordinate or assist in other clerical duties as they may arise. May be required to perform other duties as designated by supervisor. Regular and punctual attendance.Works in a climate-controlled environment. May come in contact with hazardous chemical or treatment modalities. Possibility exists of exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids, chemicals, and gases. Moderate to loud noise environment when machines/equipment in use. Involvement in checking in/moving of supplies may result in unavoidable work-related injury. Must be constantly alert for patient/family emergency situations.
