TITLE FAMILY OUTREACH TRANSLATOR (SPANISH)

nQUALIFICATIONS

nnHigh school diploma or equivalent

nDemonstrated ability to speak, understand, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish

nAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

nExcellent communication, and interpersonal skills

n10 Month position on the Educational Assistant salary scale

n nREPORTS TO

nBuilding Principal

nJOB GOAL

nTo interpret and translate for school staff in order to ensure Spanish-speaking families effectively receive school information.

nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

nn Translates written documents from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English.

n Interprets during conferences, IEP meetings, telephone calls, testing, information gathering from other school districts, emergency situations, etc.

n Assists multilingual students and their families with the school enrollment process.

n Serves as liaison between the school district and multicultural groups and organizations in the community..

n Assists the school in developing a rapport with multilingual families.

n Performs other duties as assigned by the School Principal.
