Job description
Clinic Coordinator Sr-IHR, RegistryJoin University of Chicago Medicine, in our Physical Therapy department.Clinic coordinators perform reception and clerical duties of considerable difficulty in outpatient clinic settings. The job involves extensive utilization of Hospitals' systems and constant interaction with patients, therapy services staff members, physicians (referral sources), 3rd party payors, and other members of the Hospitals' staff.Essential Job FunctionsSchedules all clinic appointments in EPIC for new referrals and return visits via basket, telephone, fax or email. Triage calls appropriately for requesting preliminary appointments; exercises judgment in referring emergency calls.Maintains all clinic schedules once submittedChecks in patients upon arrival, assembles paperwork for new patients, notifies therapistAnswers and direct internal and external phone calls verifying demographics, guarantor, insurance and financial data required for billing.Orders office supplies, as approved by Office ManagerManage patients check in (billhold) with accuracy and within established department timeframes.Demonstrates flexibility to support onsite or any satellite clinic hoursObtains authorization for treatment from managed care organizations and/or explains self-pay options to patients. Directs patients to Outpatient Services staff as necessary.Utilizes a wide variety of computer systems effectively.Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPPA legislation, and all other applicable federal, state, local, and institutional regulations with regard to confidentialityFollows AIDET with all customers and assists in the resolution of patient and other customer complaintsPerforms other duties assigned.Required QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent.Successful completion of medical terminology class.Position DetailsJob Type/FTE: Registry/ 0.1FTEShift: DaysUnit/Department: Physical Therapy- Hyde ParkCBA Code: 743CL
