PURPOSE
The Clinic RN, LPN or Medical Assistant assists Physicians, Mid-level practitioners, and medical students with patient care. This includes preparing patients and the examination rooms, taking initial medical history for the chart, taking vital signs, making lab and x-ray appointments, and explaining the preparations to the patients.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Clinic RN, LPN or Medical Assistant reports to Physicians, Mid-levels, Nurse Manager, and VP Clinic Operations
FUNCTIONS
Assist the Physician and/or Mid-level practitioner with patients. Prepare patients and examination rooms by doing the proper intake associated with the office visit for the day. Take initial medical history for the chart, take vital signs, make lab and x-ray appointments, and explain the preparations to the
Assist Physician and/or Mid-level practitioner in all special procedures including minor surgery, as required.
Remove sutures, clean wounds, and apply dressings as directed by Physician and/or Mid-level Practitioner.
Notify 100% of patients of their lab results as requested by Physician and/or Mid-level
Responsible for lab work consisting of venipuncture, throat cultures, rapid strep, influenza A&B, hematocrits, U/A dip, and any RHC labs.
Give IM injections and vaccines to patients using the RHC protocols and kswebiz.
Wash and dry instruments used and transport to surgical department for sterilization.
Work out of Providers' Pools in the message center to notify patients of results, answer incoming phone calls, referrals, and communicate with provider.
Responsible for inventory, proper handling, and storage of all medications stored in the office, this includes assisting in keeping the drug sample closet clean and all expired disposed of monthly.
Scan all labs and outside records into note scan import and route to provider for signature.
Keep examination and treatment rooms clean and properly stocked with supplies and cabinets locked.
Responsible for e-prescribing medications to appropriate pharmacies based on the RHC protocols or as directed by provider.
Assist in working in the fax server importing outside records and adhocing outside labs.
Responsible for traveling to outside facilities with provider.
Will be the backup for the receptionists on incoming phone.
Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Require full range of motion including handling, lifting, and transferring patients. Manual and finger dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, standing, and walking for extensive periods are required. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 to 30 pounds. Normal corrected vision and hearing are needed. Must have the ability to work under stressful conditions and flexible work hours. There may be some exposure to communicable diseases and Blood Borne Pathogens.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Work week will be based upon the office hours scheduled for public service with normal work week to be 40 hours. May be required to work overtime depending on patient volume.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous demonstrated nursing experience. Current Kansas Nursing License or Medical Assistant certification. Current BLS certification.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Patient, courteous, and tactful with neat and friendly appearance. Ability to communicate and relate well with Physicians and other Clinical staff. Must be efficient and conscientious in delivering medical care services to patients. Must have awareness of patient confidentiality and be able to follow directions well from Physicians and other Clinical staff.

Infant:
Ages 0-3 yrs.
Pediatric:
Ages 4-12 yrs.
Adolescent:
Ages 13-20 Yrs.
Adult:
Ages 21-64 yrs.
Geriatric:
Ages: 65+ yrs.
