The Clinical Authorization Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing prior authorization processes to support accurate billing and reimbursement for behavioral health and medical services. This role works closely with clinical teams, billing staff, and insurance providers to ensure prior authorizations are submitted, approved, and renewed in a timely manner. The Clinical Authorization Coordinator will primarily support prior authorizations for therapists while providing backup support for medical prior authorizations.Here are just a few of the benefits you'll enjoy at Damar:Mileage reimbursementReceive world-class training of verbal intervention & physical management techniquesEnjoy the opportunity to work with our vast population and programs/servicesEligible for the Damar Advantage including discounts at Damar Health Services and Damar PharmacyComprehensive training in verbal intervention and physical management techniquesMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance optionsUp to $3,000 per year in Tuition AssistanceSave for your retirement with our 401(k) Plan ParticipationTake care of loved ones through our Damar provided Life Insurance and additional voluntary optionsShort-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance optionsPaid Holidays to spend time with loved onesPaid Time Off (PTO) for rest and renewalRemarkable ways you will be making a difference:Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assignedEstablishes and maintains effective communication with pay sources, including Medicaid, Managed Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurersTracks behavioral health patient admissions and discharges to support accurate authorization and billing processesReviews documentation to ensure required information is available for prior authorization submissionsCollaborates with Accounting and billing staff to resolve authorization-related billing issuesCoordinates the submission, tracking, and approval of prior authorizations for behavioral health services.Monitors authorization approval periods and renewal dates to prevent interruptions in services and billingCommunicates with clinical teams regarding authorization requirements, approval status, and necessary documentationProvides backup support for medical prior authorizations as neededWhat you need to be considered:High school diploma or GED requiredBachelor's degree preferredMinimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare billing, insurance verification, or prior authorization processes requiredExperience working with Medicaid, Managed Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance companies preferredExperience supporting prior authorizations for behavioral health or medical services preferredExperience reviewing documentation for billing accuracy and insurance authorization requirements preferredTrauma informed care and de-escalation trainingAbility to pass and maintain CPR CertificationMinimum age of 18 per licensure requirementsValid Indiana driver's license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar's insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving)Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictionsSuccessfully complete a pre-employment drug screen and physicalFavorably meet and maintain Damar's background screeningEssential Job FunctionsThe essential functions of this position require the physical ability and mobility needed to perform the job. This includes the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.; operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard; travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation; and communicate effectively to exchange information.The position also requires the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies in an environment where individuals may display aggressive, self-injurious, sexually maladaptive, elopement, or other unpredictable behaviors.Regular and acceptable attendance, excluding approved absences and periods of leave, is also an essential function of the position.Each essential function must be performed satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.Damar is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive experience for all applicants.
