Clinical Director – Northwell‑GoHealth Urgent Care

Position Summary
Within assigned urgent care centers and geographic region, the Clinical Director manages and directs all clinical services, is responsible for the quality of care, clinical regulatory compliance, and the supervision of all clinical caregivers.
This role involves a 50% administrative requirement and a 50% clinical requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead development and implementation of programs centered on quality and operational excellence.
Collaborate within and across regions to share resources, implement improvement initiatives, and optimize clinical, financial, operational, and customer service performance.
Ensure market compliance with federal and state regulations, accreditation organizations, and partner requests.
Oversee staffing levels for center operations staff and providers, including developing staffing models and guiding hiring and training.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide feedback to managers on operational performance.
Support cross‑market initiatives, share best practices, and manage market‑wide initiatives.
Develop and periodically review clinical policies and procedures, performance standards, and ensure providers deliver quality patient care.
Respond to unforeseen emergency events and support clinical staff during high‑volume surges.
Provide direct patient care as a scheduled provider for the required number of hours per pay period.
Participate in HR functions including recruitment, qualification, competency maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
Mentor new and existing employees on EMR functionality, equipment use, and clinical care.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: MD Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine; completion of Medical Residency with Board Certification or eligibility. OR Bachelor’s Degree for Physician Assistants and Master’s Degree for Nurse Practitioners.
Work Experience: Administrative experience in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Urgent Care, or a related field, preferably in a major medical center or health system.
Outstanding communication and management skills; ability to collaborate with GoHealth staff, management, health system partners, and stakeholders.
Recent experience with generally accepted clinical methods and techniques.
Current medical license in New York (and/or Connecticut) for physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants as required.
Clinical skills consistent with evidence‑based care for common urgent care diagnoses.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and a currently in‑use electronic medical record.
Data analytics skills and experience presenting clinical and administrative topics to diverse audiences.
Essential Functions
Direct identification, development, and implementation of quality and operational improvement programs.
Facilitate design, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices related to center operations.
Maintain market compliance with federal and state regulations and accreditation requirements.
Oversee staffing levels and collaborate with talent acquisition for hiring and training.
Review and assess KPIs, provide guidance, and recommend improvements.
Support market‑wide initiatives, including project management and outcome assessment.
Develop and review clinical policies and performance standards for providers.
Provide leadership during environmental or unforeseen emergency events.
Accountability for achieving organizational targets such as EBITDA, NPS, DTD, and clinical quality metrics.
Strategic Planning
Develop relationships with local providers and service agencies to improve patient flow and create new programs.
Collaborate with leadership to address site‑specific issues with targeted and generalized measures.
Partner with the GoHealth Chief Medical Officer on national and local strategic initiatives.
Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical performance metrics.
Strong presentation skills for formal and informal audiences.
Advanced analytics and data interpretation.
