Job description
A growing veterinary compounding pharmacy is seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist to join their team in Cullman, AL. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers an immediate start and focuses on delivering exceptional care to animal patients, particularly in equine and veterinary compounding.
This role includes a key leadership component, overseeing a team of pharmacy technicians while managing daily pharmacy operations and ensuring strict adherence to quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and support 3-4 pharmacy technicians to maintain an efficient workflow
Verify prescriptions and oversee daily pharmacy activities
Manage and review 25-30 regularly reordered formularies
Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards
Collaborate with pharmacy staff to optimize operational efficiency
Provide leadership with a strong commitment to animal patient care
Assist with inventory management and operational oversight as needed
Qualifications and Desired Experience: Active pharmacist license meeting state requirements
Experience in equine or veterinary/animal compounding (human compounding experience alone is insufficient)
Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities
Excellent work ethic with a proactive, go-above-and-beyond attitude
Quick learner who adapts well in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to following established procedures and delivering high-quality animal care
Pharmacy Overview: Specialty veterinary/equine compounding with primarily non-sterile preparations
Handles 200+ prescriptions shipped daily
Team of 4 pharmacists, each overseeing 3-4 technicians
Uses PK Software for compounding order entry and QuickBooks Online for invoicing; transitioning to Pharmetica soon
