Job description
A Clinical Pharmacy Specialist role is available focusing on oncology services within both inpatient and outpatient infusion settings. This direct hire position is based in Goleta, CA, and offers the opportunity to contribute as a subject matter expert for oncology programs across the health system.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive medication management including ordering lab tests, selecting therapies, and managing adverse events.
Verify chemotherapy orders and protocols to ensure accuracy, appropriate dosage, and patient safety.
Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, manage chemotherapy side effects, and support medication adherence.
Collaborate with providers and nursing staff to make informed treatment decisions during clinical rounds.
Participate in clinical trials, oversee investigational drugs, and contribute to the development of institutional oncology protocols and guidelines.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, day shifts.
Qualifications: PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
Eligibility to obtain a California pharmacist license.
Completion of PGY2 residency or fellowship in oncology, OR PGY1 residency plus three years of clinical oncology specialist experience, OR five years as a clinical oncology specialist.
Board certification in oncology (BCOP) is preferred.
