Job description
The Clinical Pharmacist II Acute Care Internal Medicine position routinely performs direct patient care activities to clinical monitoring as well as support for preparing and dispensing prescribed medications to patients in the acute care setting.
This role is accountable for the maintenance of all aspects of medication administration including efficiency and effectiveness of medication therapeutics and dispensing, evaluation of appropriateness of drug utilization, nursing support for patient and staff education, and supervision of pharmacy technicians.
Essential Job Function:
Interprets and follows physician instructions to deliver the correct care to the correct patient.
Oversees and verifies prescription order entry, packaging and dispensing.
Provides and monitors pharmacy driven protocols, drug utilization and medication-related information to healthcare professionals, patients and the public.
Supervises pharmacy technicians.
Precepts students / pharmacy residents.
Collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety to include support for some medical rounding teams and the discharge transition processes.
Pharm.D with post graduate residency or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience
Registered Pharmacist in NC within 60 days of hire.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
