nSummary The Clinical Pharmacist provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services in a professional and competent manner to ensure rational and appropriate drug therapy for all patients. Key Responsibilities: Distribution
nnnDemonstrates a thorough knowledge of the hospital medication distribution system and can assist system users.
n
nnAble to function independently and without supervision.
n
nnAt a minimum, processes work at a rate that meets the needs of the department, the patients, and the institution.
n
nnDemonstrates knowledge of all relevant departmental, organizational, and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
n
nnPerforms tasks at a level of accuracy consistent with department expectations.
n
nnDemonstrates the ability to access patient information via the system network.
n
nnTrained in the storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous drugs in accordance with standards set by regulatory agencies.
n
nnEnsures that the needed stock is obtained in an emergency.
n
n nClinical Services
nnnResponds promptly to drug information requests using available references.
n
nnAccurately identifies and prioritizes clinical issues to ensure that the most critical matters are addressed before less critical issues.
n
nnUtilizes appropriate methods of communication for the type of problem. Timely resolution of problems is essential.
n
nnDocuments all interventions per department standards.
n
nnParticipates in clinical initiatives as defined by department.
n
n nOther Responsibilities
nnnDirects the work of pharmacy technicians to ensure adequate staffing exists.
n
nnRemains current in the field by proactively reading medical and pharmacy literature.
n
nnApothecary only: performs patient education and counseling, including an assessment of patient comprehension.
n
nnPerforms other duties as assigned.

n nRequired Qualifications:
nnnDegree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
n
nnMinimum 4 years of pharmacy practice experience in a hospital setting preferred
n
nnStrong analytical, computer, and communication skills with an excellent attention to detail
n
n nRequired Licensure/Certification Skills:
nnLicensure as a Pharmacist in New York State required.

nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
nLight - Clinical - Light clinical roles involve frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.) and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation for tasks such as patient care, laboratory work, or specimen processing. Staff rely on strong visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe specimens, read instrumentation, monitor patients, respond to alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams. Cognitive demands include multitasking, prioritizing clinical and laboratory workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. Emotional resilience is necessary due to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and the need for precise and compassionate interaction with patients and colleagues. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces. PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility are commonly required.

nThe listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
