nThe Clinical Pharmacist - Nursing Unit Based provides comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to support safe, effective, and evidence-based medication therapy for a general inpatient population. This role combines direct patient care with operational pharmacy responsibilities through a rotating practice model. During clinical rotations, caregivers perform patient profile reviews, optimize medication therapy, provide pharmacotherapy consults, educate patients, participate in interdisciplinary rounds, and precept pharmacy residents and students. Operational rotations focus on medication order verification, renal dose monitoring, and clinical consult support to ensure efficient pharmacy workflow. By collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, this pharmacist plays a key role in improving medication safety, optimizing therapeutic outcomes, and enhancing the overall quality of patient care.
nA caregiver in this position will work a full-time schedule rotating between day and evening shifts. Day shifts include 7:00am to 3:30pm, 8:00am to 4:30pm, or a flexible start time between 7:00am and 9:00am, while the evening rotation consists of 3:00pm to 11:30pm for one week at a time. Caregivers participate in an every fourth weekend rotation, alternating between first- and second-shift weekends, and work two holidays per year (one major and one minor). Occasional overnight coverage, typically 3-4 consecutive nights approximately once per year, may be required to provide PTO coverage.
nA caregiver who excels in this role will:
nnnProvide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services.
n
nnVerify medication orders and/or dispenses medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
n
nnDocument services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
n
nnActively contribute to medication safety initiatives.
n
nnEnsure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards.
n
nnDirects staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care and maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers.
n
nnEducate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients.
n
n nMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnnPharmD or Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
n
nnCurrent State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire
n
nnCompletion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
n
n nPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
nnBoard Certification
n nPhysical Requirements :
nnnTypical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
n
nnManual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
n
nnPosition often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
n
nnMust have normal or corrected vision.
n
nnMust have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
n
n nPersonal Protective Equipment :
nnFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
n nPay Range
nMinimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00
nMaximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
nThe pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
