nJob Summary

nThe MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling: Buddhism-Informed Contemplative Counseling (BICC) concentration seeks Clinical Support Professional Readers (CSP-R) to assist the course instructor in the in-person Fall CMHC615BA Capstone I and Spring CMHC616BA Capstone II courses. The role offers support with the student experience in class and mentors students in creating their Master’s Paper Capstone project. This is a two-semester appointment, with the Fall semester running August 24, 2026 and December 11, 2026, and the Spring semester running between January 11, 2027 and May 7, 2027. This course is scheduled to meet every other Monday from 2:40pm-3:55pm at the Nalanda Campus. With additional required class meetings on Friday April 23, 2027 from 5pm-7pm, and Saturday April 24, 2027 from 8:30am-6:30pm at the Nalanda Campus.

nCourse Description

nCMHC615 - This course is designed to assist students in completing their master's capstone project. Class content addresses the students' particular needs as the project develops. Particular emphasis is placed on integration of program coursework, scholarly writing, and publication/presentation requirements.

nCMHC616 - A continuation of CMHC 615, this course is designed to assist students in completing their master's capstone project. Class content addresses the students' particular needs as the project develops. Particular emphasis is placed on integration of program coursework, scholarly writing, publication/presentation requirements. The course culminates in completion of the project, designed to be a capstone experience of the students' time in the program. Prerequisite: CMHC 615.

nBICC supplemental course description:

nAn opportunity for students to review and integrate the Buddhist teachings while engaging in their internship experience. Students present clinical issues arising with clients and examine ways to integrate Buddhist, clinical, social justice, and other contemporary approaches to the art of practicing contemplative clinical mental health counseling. The course culminates in a Master’s Paper and Presentation designed to further the conceptual and clinical acumen of the developing counselor.

nJob Duties & Responsibilities

n• Attend class meetings.

n• Facilitate one student group’s Master paper presentations on Saturday, April 24, 2027, 8:30am-6:30pm.

n• Facilitate discussion groups and/or small group work in exploring the writing of the Master’s Paper or creating the Capstone project.

n• Review student’s semester assignments, offer feedback on content and writing style.

n• Support course instructor in preparing for class, such as preparing materials (e.g., assessment instruments) for use in class.

n• Confer with course instructor regarding students’ learning as evidenced by class participation and assignments.

n• Support the instructor by tracking the group dynamics of the class.

n• Offer examples of the material from personal clinical experience.

n• Meet one-on-one with students as needed to support their learning.

n• Review written and oral work of the students for understanding students' experience, without evaluation.

n• Other duties as assigned.

nWhat We Require

n• Not currently enrolled as a Naropa student.

n• Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

n• Demonstrated skill in group facilitation, writing, and offering feedback for academic writing.

n• Knowledge and experience with APA style writing.

n• Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.

n• Ability to work both independently and as a part of a close team, working collaboratively with course instructor and students.

n• High degree of emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and communication skills.

n• Commitment to co-create a diverse and inclusive community.

nWhat We’d Like You to Have

n• On-going counseling and teaching or facilitator experience in the field.

n• Familiarity with Contemplative Education.

n• Familiarity with contemplative psychotherapy.

n• Familiarity with principles and practices of culturally responsive counseling and facilitation.

n• Familiarity with Naropa’s Buddhism-Informed Contemplative Counseling (formerly Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology) concentration.

n• Prior experience with direct clinical work in counseling, psychology, or related field.

n**Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

nFaculty members spend most of their time in their classrooms or in virtual meetings with some time in offices. In the classrooms and on campus may experience: interruptions, distractions, heat, cold, dust and/or dampness. As a faculty member, you may spend extended periods in front of students and speaking as well as:

n• Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.

n• Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.

n• Standing or sitting for hours at a time.

n• Moving around campus for classes and meetings.

nA comprehensive benefits package is available to full-time employees who work a minimum of 30 hours each week. Employees who work 20 – 29 hours each week are eligible for only the employer-paid short-term & long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance & accidental death and dismemberment, and the retirement plan.

nEmployees who work fewer than 20 hours per week are eligible to participate in Naropa’s retirement plan only.

nAll regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, including student workers, accrue sick leave benefits. Full-time and part-time staff positions accrue vacation and personal time. All leave accrual rates vary based on the position, hours worked, and years of service.
