Here, you can become part of Mentor's supportive environment where everyone excels and is valued for what they bring to the team.Caregivers at Mentor Hospital's Med/Surg Unit provide care to adult patients with a variety of medical issues or patients preparing for or recovering from surgery. Med/surg caregivers care for a broad spectrum of patients, giving them a vast and broad clinical skillset.As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience, enhance your skills, and pursue career growth within the Cleveland Clinic.A caregiver in this position works nights from 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG's and removing urinary Foley Catheters.Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross before within new hire period (Nursing Students required to have BLS prior to hire)One year of recent, full-time patient care experienceAdditional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience)Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experienceMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be consideredDemonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade levelPhysical RequirementsRequires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.Personal Protective EquipmentFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
