Job description
Certified Medical Assistant/Licensed Practical NurseTo assist in day-to-day management of the patient care area. Obtain necessary patient information and to assist the providers in medical procedures. Assist the RN, LPN, and the clinical staff in performing their duties and carrying on the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures.Minimum qualifications:1. High School Graduate or GED equivalent from a department of education accredited program required.2. Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), as applicable.3. One (1) year of outpatient experience preferred.4. American Heart Association BLS certification required.5. Phlebotomy drawing certificate preferred.6. Must have thorough education or training in the basics of medical terminology.7. Demonstrated knowledge of computers and proficiency in the use of an electronic health record system required, E Clinical Works preferred. Knowledge of web based programs and Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.8. Strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task while working in a high volume work environment required.Job duties:a. Set-up, clean and turn-over room between patients, following established sanitary protocols.b. The CMA/LPN provides direct care based on the policy and procedures of the clinic.c. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in performing ordered treatments.d. Prepares patient for procedure or examination.e. Take and record height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, temperature, Sp02, and patient pain perception.f. Performs basic lab procedures appropriately and demonstrates ability to perform venipuncture. Obtain laboratory samples and complete paper work as ordered by the provider.g. Perform CLIA Waived Testing.h. Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling of surgical cases, scheduling follow-up appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations and coordinating patient referrals.i. Communicate to individual's ability to understand.j. Handle calls efficiently and direct special problem calls to appropriate person.k. Under the direction of the nurse or provider in charge, takes responsibility of medical supplies and cleaning of the medical instruments and equipment.
