Norton Shores, MI Direct Hire Hands-On Quality Leadership
Our client, an established machining-focused manufacturer in Norton Shores, MI , is seeking a hands-on CMM Manager with strong CMM programming and precision inspection experience .
This is not a desk-only management position. You'll stay actively involved on the shop floor, programming CMMs, inspecting machined components, solving quality issues, and improving inspection processes , while also providing direction and support to other quality personnel.

What You'll Do
Lead day-to-day quality and inspection activities within a machining environment.
Program, modify, and operate CMM equipment across a variety of machined components.
Perform dimensional and visual inspections on multiple part types and operations.
Use optical comparators, precision hand gauges, and other inspection equipment .
Manage gauge and inspection equipment calibration activities.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and inspection requirements .
Develop and improve in-process inspection checklists and work instructions.
Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
Provide technical guidance and support to other quality personnel.
Partner directly with production employees and leadership to resolve quality concerns.
Investigate nonconformances and support corrective actions.
Take ownership of quality issues from identification through resolution.
Support quality system and compliance requirements.
Help improve inspection methods and overall quality processes.
Develop into a more customer-facing quality resource as the organization grows.
What We're Looking For
4+ years of hands-on quality inspection experience in a machining environment.
Hands-on CMM programming experience required , not just CMM operation.
Experience programming and inspecting a variety of machined parts.
Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools, hand gauges, and optical comparators .
Ability to read and interpret prints, specifications, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Self-sufficient and comfortable taking ownership of quality issues.
Ability to work effectively with both quality and production teams.
Preferred Experience
CMM programming across multiple part types and configurations.
Strong machining or job-shop manufacturing background.
Experience creating, modifying, and optimizing inspection programs.
Experience providing technical direction or leadership within a quality department.
